Why is it so hard to say goodbye?
Rhetorical question. No one can give me a proper answer. But actually, this whole week has been filled with goodbyes, and I literally cannot even anymore. Either people are going away on vacation, starting a co-op (6 month internship) in a different state, going home, or going abroad. My best friend Ally left for France yesterday after I spent the day shopping with her for outfits we could both wear in Europe (since I'm leaving Sunday for Ireland). I'm really going to miss my new girl friends/best friends. Similarly my best friend Claire is heading to Hawaii. Aloha freak. And then there's my other faves, who either just got back from abroad, or are going to start co-op here soon.
You may be confused as to why I'm so upset about goodbyes considering I'm the one about to gallavant around Europe for 5 weeks. But, I've never been one to say goodbye and take it lightly. Doesn't matter who is leaving. Not only do I have to peace out...I have to first pack up my dorm, have the storage people help me move out, live at a friend's place for 2 days, and survive the 4th of July. My life is sooooo hard. *cue tears*
Okay okay. I'm going to Europe. I should be extremely excited. And I am! But this final week of chores is really causing me great anxiety. I just want to be there already. But then again I don't want to leave my home: Boston. It's weird that in 2-3 months my view of this place has really changed. I used to just like it. Now I love it. I think that came with the fact that I started exploring more and engaging in more activities around town. My friends and I hit a lot of places on my bucket list this summer. So now I have to leave and miss out. The FOMO (fear of missing out) is absolutely 100% real.
I am, however, stoked to go abroad and be spontaneous and hopefully get a good grade in my organic chemistry 3 class. FINGERS CROSSED. First my trip goes to Ireland for 3 weeks to take the class. Then we head toward England and Switzerland to tour pharmaceutical companies. I'm hoping to meet people and make connections. Nothing would be cooler than having people abroad that know of you and want you to work for them! So I know I'm missing out by being out-of-town, but I will be making crazy memories in Europe.
Things I will miss in Boston:
1. Mah frands <3
2. Amelia's Taqueria
3. Nightlife
4. My own room
5. Dunkin Donuts
6. Data coverage
7. Finding pennies everywhere
Things I won't miss in Boston:
1. Humidity
2. CVS
3. Dining halls
4. Rude drivers
5. Everything closing early
Things I'm excited for in Europe:
1. Swiss landscape and desserts
2. Cute foreign men
3. Learning science
Things I'm not excited for in Europe:
N/A
I can't wait to come back with an Irish accent. That would be fun, eh?
