Retweet if you cried.

This has become my anthem. Not because I excessively cry about things like grades, boys, and drama...never. Mostly because this generation has found comfort in posting relateable memes, gifs, tweets, vines, what have you. If you're not on social media, what kind of lame person are you? Amirite? NO. I am wrong.

I miss the days where I would have to wait to show my friends something funny until I saw them next. Where I could see their reactions to my joke or picture. When pictures were not virtual. When I actually spent time outside. My parents would probably laugh at me, saying I spent time outside as a child. However, besides my fangirling over neopets and faking sick at summer camp to come home and play just one more round of Turmac Roll, I did enjoy being young and jumping in sprinklers in my yard.

I was also a camp counselor for 2 years. My campers were 3 and 4 years old. Half of them would take my phone and know how to use it- for selfies of course. I'm sorry, what? Literally you can't even spell your name. What has happened to blocks and lincoln logs? Does anyone use anything but an i-Pad for schooling anymore? There must be an app for everything imaginable. I wish there was an app to show society how much more fun we could have without our technology.

Don't get me wrong, it's great sometimes. I am a huge fan of memes and gifs. Also, it's nice to be able to connect with long lost relatives and people when they're abroad. Even though, they probably should be enjoying their times abroad...but that's none of my business. I just think, one day a year, we could drop our phones (not in the toilet) and computers and just be ourselves. We don't need to mask ourselves on the internet with filters and cheesy quotes. Is that really you...or nah?

Who am I to talk, though? I have been trying all semester to get vine famous because I think I'm funny. I think my most popular vine got two favorites and one revine. Hold me back, I'm on fire. What's actually quite interesting about this day and age, is that people are making a living off of being vine or youtube famous. 6 seconds, I guess, can really make a difference. Then those people go to all these award shows and meet other famous people. I'm sorry, what is life. How do I become one of you?

My whole life I have just wanted to make others laugh. It's one of those satisfying feelings you get. Like beating your friends at flappy bird, or like realizing the grading curve is a thing. So, for now I'll just keep on scrolling and laughing and liking and tweeting and revining. But most importantly, I'll share the laughter and posts with my friends. If you didn't share a post, does it even exist?
